    Hello,

I was diagnosed for Pelvic Floor Disorder a year ago. I had to quit practicing Iyengar and Power Yoga, because doing a lot of lunges and concaving my back (arching of the lower back, part of Iyengar practice) were causing me a great deal of paralyzing back pain and worsening of my symptoms associated with PFD. Since then, I started doing just hot yoga Bikram style which I found to be pelvic floor friendly, supplemented by my Physical Therapy once a week for my PFD.

It took me practicing at the back of the room, using walls and ballet bar, diligently everyday for 7 months to be able to do any back bends, especially Camel pose. I still can’t hold full Camel like I used to.

Is there any movement you recommend that would help me with my back issues such as this? Are there anyone here who experienced something similar that have any tips and insights as to help with PFD?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much in advance!

    -S

    Hello S

I hope you don’t mind, but I need some clarification. Sometimes there’s a mix-up of the conditions PF Disorder or Dysfunction. I just want to confirm if your issue is an over- or under-engagement of PF muscles. It’s possible that your therapy is to help you relax or tighten those PF muscles. You’ve given clues, but I don’t want to make any assumptions.

    Namaste
    Gabrielle 🙂
