Yoga And Being A “Geek”

While it is true I have more than a small amount of scientific geek-skill (as well as being a Dentist in a previous life), there’s no doubt that the technical world can save us information-hungry yogis time.

My husband (Robert) who designs and implements these sites generally keeps me up to date with “all things geek” - but I thought it would be fun to hear from YOU with your own “yoga geek” tips ...

Please click the “comments” link below and tell me what “geek tips” you’d love to share!

(And while you are at it ... follow me on Twitter: http://twitter.com/gabrielleraiz)

Namaste

Gabrielle

PS. Do you have your own yoga blog? Feel free to leave a link here ... (only one per comment allowed. If you have more, email me and I’ll have Robert add them)

Hmmm. She seems to be implying I’m a total geek ... actually I’m a warm-hearted, caring yogi ... oh OK, OK I *do* love gadgets!

Here’s my geeky tip:

Use Firefox rather than Internet Explorer. It’s faster; has better functionality and you can get some very helpful “add-ons”.

I also add news & local weather feeds in the menu bar AND I have Gabrielle’s latest forum posts also in the bookmarks tool bar.

Get it here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

Here’s another (couldn’t resist having only one).

External hard drives are now so cheap that everyone should have one permanently connected and a daily backup scheduled. Trust me, I’ve lost a lot of data ... and every time had a backup. if I hadn’t, I’d be lost.

And another ...

Got too many logins and passwords all over the internet? Can’t remember ‘em? Worried about security?

Then use RoboForm. One click, all encrypted and you can take it with you on a USB-key. Regularly wins awards and is a great time-saver!

Search for RoboForm on Google. Or use this link http://www.roboform.com/

Yes you got me Deb - the Robert above is “the husband” (me) LOL

Good to know there are other yoga-geeks (in the nicest possible use of the word geek of course).

I really enjoy reading on the hot yoga doctor site.  I am a seeker and constatntly reading all things yoga related.  Recently strated writing a blog myself since I have enjoyed reading those posted by everyone else.  Check it out some time.

I’m a card carrying geek who’s into hot yoga! I’ve found your site to be really useful - thanks for all the effort you’ve put in.

My geek tip is to get into using Macs - there’s a small learning curve at first, but there is so much less hassle overall.

As far as yoga goes, I run http://www.hot-yoga.net which is a directory and resource site for hot yoga. I’m in the process of building up content and adding more entries to the directory.

Good luck with your site, and many thanks.

Namaste.

Thanks for dropping by John - I took a look at your site too - nice clean design - love the “hot” banner!

Good luck and keep us updated with your progress (feel free to put a link back to us as a resource anytime too!).

I started on macs - now a windows lover/hater (depending on which 5 minutes you ask me).

Thanks for the complements on the site Robert.

Will add a link back to your site, when I find (and create) the appropriate section! Likewise feel free to link back to me - I have plans to start adding articles about hot yoga and building up a really useful hot yoga directory.

Many thanks again.
Namaste.
