I guess the inhale does happen automatically but more CO2 is going out then O2 going in. It causes me to get dizzy and slightly hyperventilate. I must be doing something wrong.

I get so tired during this, sometimes I have to “fake it” to get done with this. It maybe the hardest thing for me during class.
2010-07-31T07:12:09-08:00 how to do the exhale breathing http://www.hotyogadoctor.com/index.php/site/forum/viewthread/225/ http://www.hotyogadoctor.com/index.php/site/forum/viewthread/225/#When:13:34:14Z
I am another newbie to Bikram, and I appreciate this forum greatly! I have been practicing for a month. when I began, I did the exhales by concentrating more on “pushing” the air out using my abs, but it didn’t seem as though I was able to keep the “form” throughout the sets. Now, I have begun to concentrate on “JUST” exhaling. Concentrating the breath coming from my mouth - kind of like lamaze training, a “hu” sound. My abs are still engaged, (I can see them move in the mirror) but I’m not pushing from my abs. I have found I can do both sets of the breathing now, but am unsure if I’m doing it correctly.

Thanks for your thoughts.
2008-08-24T13:34:14-08:00 Back Pain during Kapalbhati Breathing http://www.hotyogadoctor.com/index.php/site/forum/viewthread/975/ http://www.hotyogadoctor.com/index.php/site/forum/viewthread/975/#When:21:01:07Z
I have been working to improve my Kapalbhati Breathing, but when I do the breathing, I get extreme pain in my mid back. Often, to the point that I have to stop to rest a few counts and re-begin. Has anyone had this problem or know why it may be happening? Perhaps my abdominal muscles are weak? My teacher did confirm that it should not be hurting… Thank you!
2010-07-01T21:01:07-08:00 Grabbing my hands behind my back? http://www.hotyogadoctor.com/index.php/site/forum/viewthread/231/ http://www.hotyogadoctor.com/index.php/site/forum/viewthread/231/#When:09:35:30Z
Hello,

I have been practicing Bikram yoga for a little under two months. I love it and have been going six days a week. I noticed in this pose a few students are grabbing their hands behind their backs. For instance if my left leg is on the ground, right foot planted, both butt cheeks touching the floor, I put my left arm up and in front, and my right arm through my legs, hand facing out and I find it easier to stretch if I grab both hands behind my back.A few teachers have been correcting me lately and say to grab my knee with my hand or the inside of my thigh, but I do not feel the stretch as deep?!? Where should my hands be? I hope this makes sense…Thank you Gabrielle,

namaste
2008-09-02T09:35:30-08:00 Kapalbhati Breathing setup http://www.hotyogadoctor.com/index.php/site/forum/viewthread/314/ http://www.hotyogadoctor.com/index.php/site/forum/viewthread/314/#When:01:23:56Z
Hi everyone!

I’ve got two questions:

1. Is it more important to keep my spine straight, square to the floor, or do I have to reach my knees with my hands? Does it depend on the length of my arms?

2. Do I need to keep my shoulders relaxed even if they tend to round, or should I keep my chest up and my shoulder muscles engaged all the time?

Thank you

Martina
2008-11-22T01:23:56-08:00 Class staying together in breathing http://www.hotyogadoctor.com/index.php/site/forum/viewthread/216/ http://www.hotyogadoctor.com/index.php/site/forum/viewthread/216/#When:15:05:24Z
While we do the final breathing, our instructor claps and encourages us all to stay together, in terms of beat.

But I can’t hear anyone because I am breathing out. Plus, I am exhausted. And isn’t that alot to ask after 90 minutes in the heat ??
I’m tired!

What do you think Gabrielle?
2008-08-01T15:05:24-08:00 Should the abs hurt in Kapalbhati breathing? http://www.hotyogadoctor.com/index.php/site/forum/viewthread/146/ http://www.hotyogadoctor.com/index.php/site/forum/viewthread/146/#When:19:49:46Z
Hi Y’all

creating a new thread here to move a post about final breathing.

Namaste
Gabrielle
2008-04-26T19:49:46-08:00
