Just thought I kick this topic off by sharing my experience so far.

I have started practicing hot yoga at the beginning of January this year so I am only a newbie but I LOVE IT!!!

At the moment I am doing 3 classes a week but I am going to increase frequency to 4-5 a week in February. I already feel my body is going through so many changes both mentally and physically so I cannot wait to see what will happen on the next part of my yoga journey...!

Hi Eve

The difference between doing 3 classes per week and 4 or more is really amazing. I can’t wait to hear how it changes your world (and your perception of it).

Have fun!

I completely agree!  I thought three classes a week was good, until I hit the four-a-week and then five-a-week mark.  Once you start doing classes back to back, multiple days in a row, I think your body really opens up and you find yourself sinking deeper and deeper into poses.

Attending classes more frequently also keeps you in a consistent, constant yoga mindframe, if you will. You spend less time in class getting focused and readjusting to the heat and thinking about how stiff you are and more time concentrating on your breathing, your stillness, your ability to stretch further, physically and mentally. And that’s what this yoga is really all about, right??  smile

Good luck!

Well said!

Funnily enough, it seems to not only get better, but the highs and lows go away - I imagine because the body doesn’t have so much time to “tighten up again”.

And as you say, you live more in that “yoga mindframe”.

Thanks for the encouragement!

I skateboard 3-4 times a week (professionall level).

i warm up with the pick-me-up set outlined in the book, 1 set each, but put in 5 minutes of sun salutation after the pranayama and half moon series. this is also my warm-down.

once a week i do the half class at home (unfortunately not heated room, but about 24 celcius)

twice a week a full class at home.

sometimes only half class (i.e 1 set)

once in a while in a studio.

Dedicated? Nah… 4 full classes a week would make such a diffeence I tink, but no time… many times I only do the half class (each pose ones) or the pick-me-up set. Sometimes not even a full class 2 times a week, but only a half.

My skatesessions are also kind of short. But I also meditate at least 1 hour a day with the TM-Sidhiprogram.

I do miss the heat, but it is like 1 hour 45 min to he nearest studio.

Difficult to have time for it all. But I hope the sun-salutation+pick-me-up-set+skateboarding+sun-salutation+pick-me-up do have some good effects.

I go to class twice a week and then have a home practice that lasts for about forty-five minutes to an hour that follows a Vinyasa flow that I put together from magazines and from class instructions. I also mix these workouts with Crossfit and Kettlebell workouts taking only one day off a week for recovery (although I do a twenty minute yin yoga routine that day also to stretch out from the last day of working out.)
