Hello,
I have started doing Hot Yoga for over 8 weeks now and I absolutely love it. I am recovering from surgery for a torn ACL and meniscus and i’ve found that Hot Yoga is absolutely amazing for me. I love how much I sweat. My question is in regards to the excessive sweating, is there any supplements (minerals, zinc, etc..) that would be beneficial right after class? I would imagine with the amount of sweating that some replenishment would help. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Coconut water works well, as do Emergen-C type packets that you add to water. And I know personally, I found I needed to drink a lot more than I thought I would (just make sure you are getting electrolytes with it an not just drinking a gallon of water or something…)
Hi Peter and Connie
While coconut water and Emergen-C are good they can get a bit pricey. There are other options that are more expensive and others that are more cost effective: Electrolyte tabs (do your research) good quality unrefined sea salt (salt your food and even your water – we do this at our house). Gatorade is something I don’t recommend. It’s artificially coloured and flavoured and is really not much more than sugar, Na and K.
Peter it’s fantastic you’re feeling so good after your operation.
Namaste
Gabrielle 🙂
