Last Thursday I started Bikram yoga. I felt great afterwards, completely refreshed and rejuvenated. The next day I felt a little sore but figured it was just from starting a new exercise. I’m in moderately good shape–I bike about 2 times a week and walk just about everywhere. The aches and pains went from just being sore to my entire body being ache-y; fingers and toes included. I actually cancelled my Sunday class because it was so difficult to move. I stayed hydrated before, during, and after my class so I don’t think it has anything to do with dehydration, but I thought that the discomfort would have subsided by now.
Is this a normal reaction to one’s first time doing hot yoga or is something else going on? I really enjoyed it and hope I don’t need to stop, but if I’m always going to feel this way for days after, I don’t think I can continue.
Any input would be helpful, thanks!
