    I usually wear my hair in a neat bun on top of my head during bikram classes- only problem is it gets in the way in rabbit pose, and i usually have to take it out if I want to get deep in the posture- which results in more fidgeting than I would like. I have tried lower buns but they interfere with savasana. Any advice on the perfect hot yoga do?

    Hi Cathy

    😆 A problem that has plagued many a long haired yogi!!! Heidi plaits work. I actually wear my hair in a low ponytail and then sweep the hair off my face with a headband which expands open on the top of my head like a scarf. They work a treat.

    PS: I seem to remember another hair conundrum thread that may have some other suggestions for you. Take a look. If you can’t find it, let me know.

    I wear mine in two low pigtails….doesn’t interfere with savasana or rabbit. By the end of class I look a fright, but its the only “style” I’ve found that works consistently for me.

    Gabrielle….I’ve tried headbands, but they seem to want to slip off during things like back bends. How do you keep yours on?

    Hi Cathy and Kristin

    @C You’re welcome

    @K Well, regular headbands simply do NOT work for me. The ones I use are elasticised at the neck around to the ears (the band there is about 1 inch wide). Then from ear to ear over the top of the head it expands from the 1 inch band to about 8-9 or so inches to cover the head.

    The elasticised nature of the band holds my hair in place and I rarely if ever have to adjust it. The only time I may need to adjust it is in Supta because the arms over the head, combined with the head position can dislodge it.

    My fringe/bangs are held off my face and I have no hair around my face at all. It’s the best solution I have ever found.

    Hi all –

    I have some crazy, poofy, long hair when its not done.

    I have found that a bun rather high up on the head works good. its perfect for rabbit because the elastic is far enough back that it will never effect me, plus the hair is off my neck which bothers me beyond belief.

    as far as headbands go….LuLuLemon sells an AWESOME head band that is like 3inches thick. The only time it moves a smidge is when i do the backbend in the half moon pose. its $18 so its pricey for a headband, but i dont have any fly-aways going crazy.

    i’m definitely not attractive during yoga due to my hair and headband, but everyone is focusing on themselves anyways right =]
