Hi all, it’s been a while! Since I last posted I’ve had a hysterectomy and am going back to yoga on Monday, which will be the first day of my 6th week post op. My doc gave me my discharge papers on Thursday and said I’ve got the all clear but to take it easy. I am currently pain free with minimal, intermittent mild soreness and a little swelling still. I’ve begun very slowly stretching my abs by laying on my tummy and pushing up onto my elbows. Man were they tight, but it seems to be helping.
Any advice for how to handle getting back to class?
Hi Micherie
Welcome back! It’s great to hear you’re feeling better and getting back to your yoga.
You know the advice would be to stay in tune with what’s working and what’s not. You may find that extra sensitivity is required in the abdominal region!
The most important thing is to keep practicing your core activation. If you need help in core activation, go get some hands on assistance from a therapist or pilates teacher or someone like that.
Happy healing!
