    Dear all,
I have created a new website, The Loving Heart Centre, a charity set up with a view to helping people develop love and happiness in their lives. I have been practising yoga for 57 years and teaching it for 40 years. Specifically for those wishing to practice yoga, beginners and general, I give sequences of postures that you will find useful.

Over the years I have found a truly astonishing deterioration in the mental health of people who practice a lot of yoga. They all become malicious (!) and senile, gradually year by year. I explain why this is in my article.

It is for this reason that I always recommend to people to do the bare minimum of practice to maintain one’s health, not more. E.g., one times per week for most of you. I do not recommend you practising using a yoga teacher. This is because the teacher almost always practises a lot and encourages you to be outgoing, not to notice the subtle hints your body gives you that things are going wrong.
    All best wishes to you

I do think that societies in general would do well with more happiness at their heart. So I totally dig your viewpoint there. 🙂

Interesting thoughts on frequency of Yoga practice…Probably each person would need to decide for themselves their limits for practicing. I currently practice 5-6 days a week – on my own, not in a class at this time. I check in with myself to determine how long my practice will be each day and set a goal to do the full 90 minute series (as many of the postures as I can) once a week. This has done well for me and my body mechanics are improving with this schedule.

Do you have research that supports the idea that Yogis eventually become more senile and otherwise mentally unhealthy with too much practice? It seems to contradict alot of other research. ??

    Thanks!

    H.
