I have a strange pain but only when the foot / ankle is in a particular position.

When i am seated on my shins, in something caled wide-leg child’s pose – kneeling on knees, knees spread mat width, buttocks sitting back on heels, and big toes almost touching.

Ifeel intense pain on top side of the big toe, around the 1 st toe joint, near root of the toe nail, slightest pressure on toe nail is painful.

In other positions with ankle normal, i have full mobility of toe….

Feels like strainec ligament or Tendon issue….. Not fracture…. Can’t think of specific trauma, Just came on one day….. Was fine couple weeks ago, but now it is painful every time i assume that poosition….

I also notice, When i rub the Side of my foot, near the big joint of the big toe (where bunions usually form), first metatarsal, closer to the beginning of the arch, i feel a twinge that runs right theu the Meta-tarsal joint….

Anyone have anything like that?? Who do i see, podiatrist, OrthoPedist?

PS funny thing is, i have an ugly bunion …… On the OTHER foot though!

    Hi Wayne

That’s very weird! The tale of 2 tootsies 😆 I hope you are OK. Sometimes weird inexplicable stuff happens for a short time. Was it one of these times? Can you tell me if you have still got this strange issue happening in your non-bunionized foot? If it’s resolved then I would love to know. If it’s not then I have an idea.

    Namaste

    Hi Gabrielle,

Tks for getting back to me …..

In fact, just like you said, sometimes these things come and go. When it first manifested itself, the pain was VERY intense, requiring modifications so there was no pressure on the joint, when my feet were under me, pressing on the ground, in wide knee child pose, etc….

It seems to have virtually disappeared. It gradually faded away, and there is only ever so slight sensitivity, no longer requiring accommodations, etc ….

Let’s hope it stays away, ….. I can live with my ugly bunion …. for now …..

…. in fact, now, when I look at my bunion …. I don’t know if it is my imagination, t could it be getting a little smaller ,….. from doing yoga …. or chg in footwear, or it’s just my imagination ….

    bye….
