Hi, I am thinking about setting up my own yoga studio here in the UK. I have been practising Bikram for a number of years now and been teaching a different form of hot yoga for about a year. I have always been involved in running my own businesses, so have good business knowledge and feel I have identified a good area to start a studio and would love to combine my love of yoga with my business side. I intend to do the Bikram teaching training at the end of the year and set a bikram studio up early 2013.

I have been trying to price things up a little and looking for a little advice…

How much does it cost to install the heating equipment needed in a hot yoga room?
How much does it cost to install showers and changing facilities?
How much do the bills for heating and water come to?
How often do the studio carpets need cleaning to combat the smell of sweat etc?

I know all answers can be quite different depending on size, location etc, but changing and showering facilities will be of a standard size and the yoga room will be to fit a maximum of 50 people.

Sorry if these questions have been posted elsewhere, but just been looking online for answers and not been able to find much until coming across this forum. Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi Alex

I am sending you an email too.

In order to answer all your questions one would ideally need specific information.

For example, and I am sure you will find this other information on this forum in places with judicious searching 😉 you can waste a lot of money on many different aspects of fit out if certain aspects are not dealt with properly.

Eg, spending a little more to over insulate will save you bucket loads of cash in the long term. You will even need less power to heat the place and you may even need a less powerful heating system.

A lot of the information you need can be gained by hot yoga studio visits, working out what you liked, how controllable the environment was, whether the teacher was constantly fiddling with the system. There are many variables…

Fitout also depends on what’s in the place to start off with. And many landlords will install these assets as part of the agreement.

Get back to me and I will be happy to help as much as I can

    Namaste

    Hi Brittany

Please let me know where you’re at with your certification and your studio. The lack of answers for this thread are just bad timing for me with running my teacher training (first question) and then a family bereavement (second question). Both extremely overwhelming times. I AM willing to help. I humbly apologise. You must think I was ignoring you or something!

I would also love a copy please! I am looking into doing the same thing in Australia.

    Hello Ccollier

I am unable to use the PM system at the moment because of a glitch discovered in our system that should be fixed soon. Why don’t you send me an email and tell me your plans?

    Namaste
    Gabrielle 🙂
