    Hi Gabrielle!

I read the other posts on this pose to check if I do it correctly.
My legs are straight and my heel is lifted.
My forehead is on my knee and my arms are bent, elbows on the floor.

What I don’t understand is: how am I supposed to feel in this pose?
What’s the purpose of it? What’s my goal? What do I get from it?

I would like to understand where the relief is, where the pleasure is, if you see what I mean. There is some pleasure in every pose, some relief of some sort.
    What’s good about this one?

When you speak about it, I can feel that you love it and you understand it deeply. You seem to get a lot of satisfaction from it. You are excited about it.

What am I supposed to discover that I still don’t know? What’s the secret?
And did you ever feel like this yourself?

    Thank you

    Martina

I’m sure Gabrielle will have her own, more knowledgeable in sites, however I thought I would share my own experience.
I know what you mean by just not feeling a pose…. I’ve had this happen before even t hough I thought I was doing very well in it!!
For me… the secret to head to knee is the hip and shoulder placement….
it feels like standing head to knee but on the floor!
rolling forward on the hip and bringing my shoulders square (don’t forget down and back w/ the shoulder blades!!!) make sure your shoulders are NOT hunched toward your ears but try to get a long neck.
let me know how that feels !!!!1

Hi Fraseram and thanks for sharing your experience.

Could you explain a bit more about the shoulders? I understand that I don’t have to hunch them, but when I push my shoulders away from my ears the pose makes even less sense to me! How exactly do you put them? What other muscles are you paying attention to? Are you using your arms? Your back? And why is the forehead to the knee so important? And do you feel any satisfaction? And why? Maybe I should stop here… 😉

    Thank you

    Hi Martina and Amy

Amy I am glad you feel it and love it. Once you get this pose it is just impossible to do it ANY other way.

I know we are going to get there with you Martina…

May I ask you if you have read the VIP Members’ Forum where I have answered this one in detail along with photos?

My very first thing for you to would be to ask you to try it right now without your thumbs interlocked. Remember to push the head into the knee at the same time as pushing the heel away and pulling the toes back, elbows in and down as if pointing under the knee and the shoulders relaxed.

    Namaste
    Gabrielle 🙂

Yes, I have read and watched everything on your web site because I love it! 😉

After reading your replies to my other posts I suspected that my dissatisfaction with this pose could be related to the interlocking of my thumbs…so I will try this pose soon with all my newly acquired wisdom on that matter 🙂
    I am expecting wonders!

    Thank you

Ps: I would love it if one day you decided to put more of your own photos on the web site. I am not saying that your students are not good, their photos are definitely helpful for where I am and I am able to correct my mistakes. But seeing someone that is far more advanced than we are is incredibly inspiring and motivating. This is why I keep looking at your head to knee…there’s a lot of passion there!
