It was day one of my period today and I felt shocking! I was ok for the floor series until triangle and then got progressively worse until I had to lie down entirely, which I hate! I felt weak and had a feeling of light pins and needles in my legs. Is this normal? I had come on about an hour previously and felt fine but have never practised on day one of my cycle before.

Has anyone found that this has occurred at other times randomly? My face goes a little red in class (I’m usually one for going bright red through exercise) but I too have found the breathing really helps. Recently however, I’ve noticed my face going bright red at various times throughout the day and my body feels hot too. I’m 31 (so hopefully no menopause yet) and have been taking 4 classes a week for about 3 months.

I will get it checked then! It certainly isn’t enough to put me off so I will see how I get on.

Does that mean that bikram has helped with your BP?

    Hi Gabrielle,

Thanks for your response. I have to say I’m not sure what my figures are! I do know I’ve had since I was little!

I have been trying to concentrate on my breathing and today did a class where the teacher really did too. It did feel better but will try to breath more smoothly tomorrow. Sometimes I feel dizzy if I breathe too deeply – could I be breathing deeply but too quickly? I also think if I panic at any point it might aggravate it? Is this true?

    Thanks again,

    Briar 🙂

    Hi Gabrielle,

I was in class today and it occurred to me that I hadn’t thanked you for your reply, so thank you!

I have one more question and this is actually in relation to my yoga practise. I have low blood pressure so consequently find maintaining two repetitions of the standing postures hard. I have been told that the yoga will help to regulate this but do you have any idea of the timescale involved?

    Thanks again,

    Briar 😉

    Hi Gabrielle,

Thanks for getting back to me! He is able to balance on one leg (unless his eyes are closed and then he falls over) when he focusses on one point and rarely feels pain in day to day life. It doesn’t affect his everyday movements but he is concerned that it may provoke another injury. The most badly affected ankle was the left one but he has had problems with the right one also. Football (soccer) is a worry as it is a high contact sport but I keep telling him that this will be ok! Perhaps it’s not for the faint hearted though?!

    Thanks for your reply,
    Briar 🙂
