    Thanks for the fast replies!

When I go Wednesday night I’ll try controlling my breathe more. I think that is where I make my mistake, my breathe tends to be very ragged when I do the pose. I also think I may be crunching my head too much, rather than just tucking my chin.
I’ll let you all know how it goes!

    thanks again!

Actually I don’t have trouble with Fixed Firm. I do have to keep my knees wide and I can’t go all the way back, but I don’t have pain in my knees. I think I tend to be more careful with that posture, whereas when I’m trying to do Standing Bow or Floor Bow, I’m a little more gung-ho so I tend to force it.

What would you recommend for strengthening the quadriceps? Weight training or something more like pilates?

Funny you mentioned no running, I’ve never been very good at it! My friend who’s an avid runner and a doctor once said that some people are not built for doing certain exercises such as running. She said that if swimming were the only thing she could do, she would be big as a house because she just can’t do it very well(she sinks like a rock!)

Thank you so much for help, I’ve found the advice in this forum to be invaluable!

Hi Gabrielle and everybody else! 🙂

I just posted about my success with Camel pose due to you. Now I want to share my success with Standing head to knee pose.
I too was having trouble with balance, my standing leg would weeble and wobble and although sometimes I could force my leg out, I knew something wasn’t right.

I read the advice you gave about having a straight back when the leg comes out, but I also used the tip on properly “locking out” the knee in the standing leg. When I went to class last night, I incorporated what I learned on this forum and it worked! What I find most amazing is that it didn’t seem to require as much exertion as before. Not to make it sound as if it were easy, but it seemed I was able to focus the energy to the right muscles due to the proper form.

This forum has helped me so much, I mean, I corrected mistakes I was making in three different postures and improved a couple of others that I didn’t really have problems with!

    Many thanks!
