Dear Gabrielle,
At the outset I would like to thank you for the wonderful service that you are doing by way of clarifying the doubts of the students of yoga. I am a practising doctor, an Anaesthesiologist, who has been doing yoga for the past one month. I do only a few poses like Padmasana,Vajrasana,Sarvangasana,Bhujangasana and Ardh Matsyendrasana. In addition I practise Pranayama for 10 to 15 minutes too by holding my breath for 30 seconds after slow inhalation followed by slow exhalation. I am an Indian working in Saudi Arabia. It is very hot here now. For the past two weeks I have developed itching around the anus and in my perineal region (i.e. below my scrotum ). I feel as if this area has become warm. I am woken up from sleep in the middle of the night due to itching. I keep applying Zinc Oxide cream to overcome this itching and this helps to some extent. I would like to know if Ardh Matsyendrasana would increase body heat and cause this type of a problem to me or could Pranayama contribute to this. Can you please clarify. Thanks and regards. DR.Shajahan.
