    Hi there,

I’ve been seeing a rolfer for my knee, quad and groin pain and she is doing wonders. She say no Fixed Firm Pose EVER!!!! Also, no more six days in a row stuff. Maybe every other day, but I’m not there yet.

    Hi Gabrielle,

The poses that give me most problems are: Half-moon (side to side and kneeling portions), triangle, tree, and fixed firm. The one-legged poses are generally OK because I lock my knee. I am seeing my chiropractor tonight and if that yields nothing, it will be time to see an orthopedist of some sort.

    Hi there,

Thank you for asking. What I didn’t say previously is that for the last two months, I’ve been tapering off of an antidepressant that I’ve taken for years. I’ve been taking supplements primarily to combat anxiety and headaches which are typical withdrawal symptoms. There is a supplement that specifically combats fatigue which I’ve just ordered and will try. I have to be so careful with Bikram because it tends to accelerate my detoxification which asserbates my withdrawal symptoms. The protocal that I’ve been following warns about ANY abrupt changes in diet or exercise, but I’d been gaining weight with the heavy load of Omega 3’s that I wanted to do something.

So, I’ve decided to slow down my yoga and contemplate patience!

    Best regards,

    Elizabeth

I’ll change my class time until the evening and will listen to my body as to how many classes I take a week and not get down on myself if I can’t do class every day!

    Hi there,

This is nothing new, it has been a pattern since I bagan Bikram yoga. It is just that I now have the opportunity to use your forum to ask about it.

    Hi there,

I drink lots of water before class and have just starting drinking ZICO after class. Should I be drinking more ZICO?

    Hi there,

I was super careful in yesterday’s class and in addition began performing the additinal stretches recommended for yoga students that you carry on your website and guess what? I walked out pain free and have remained pain free!!!!! Wow! I am so excited. I’ve also been watching where how feet and hips are aligned per your vidio and am putting my elbows in my back pockets as well and it it working!

    Super best regards,

    Elizabeth

    Hi there,

Your suggestions make total sense and I had already been considering doing some specialized gym work as a remedy. There is a saying that when the student is ready, the teacher will appear. It is no coincidence that I found your website exactly when I had reached a point in my classes where I had realized that following the rote instructions of the teachers was hurting insteading of helping my body!

    Best regards,

This was the first time that I did Paschimottanasana with bent legs which felt really strange, but I may be having problems with pulling with my shoulders vs. pulling with my biceps. My back felt very rounded even with bent legs.

Thanks for the quick reply. Also, while I have you on the “phone,” my other problem is that I seem to have little muscle stability strength to “lock” my knees by using the quads to life my kneecaps. I find it incrediably easy to lift my kneecaps AND hyperextend my knees and have done so all of my life. My recent tearing of my gastrocemius muscle at its insertion point behind my knee may be due to this.

    Best,

    Elizabeth
