I’m sure Gabrielle will have her own, more knowledgeable in sites, however I thought I would share my own experience.
I know what you mean by just not feeling a pose…. I’ve had this happen before even t hough I thought I was doing very well in it!!
For me… the secret to head to knee is the hip and shoulder placement….
it feels like standing head to knee but on the floor!
rolling forward on the hip and bringing my shoulders square (don’t forget down and back w/ the shoulder blades!!!) make sure your shoulders are NOT hunched toward your ears but try to get a long neck.
let me know how that feels !!!!1

    Hi
I sent you a message gabrielle but….. i did some research and I think I’ve found the problem!
It’s is a heat rash called prickly m(something) anyway…. it is caused by excessive sweating over time clogging sweat ducts.
what to do? yesterday I used a cooling toner after my shower being careful to dab never rub and finished w/ placing a cool face cloth on my belly for a few min. this REALLY worked…. it came only for a few min and went away much faster and was not as bad. the toner serves two purposes
    1. cools the skin to rid the rash
    2. cleans the pores and gets DEEP in the skin.
who knows mabey after a few times it will not even come up?!

Here are some things that work for me…..
I only try too sleep for about 20 min then I try another position for about 20 min….. then kneel and do half tortoise come out and try again. If I still can’t….. I get up and sit my rocking chair w/ my eyes closed for 15-20 min. go back to bed and try agin…
I keep doing this and eventually I get sleep!
If I’m having a really hard time I take out cold pack from the fridge and curl up w/ it under my chin and on my chest. It calms/slows my system and it feels opening on my chest and lungs.

When my mind starts to panic I do a couple of things
    1. tell myself I’ve done this a million times before and I can do it this time as well.
    2. Let myself feel safety in the fact that I don’t HAVE to do anything but stay and breathe if I have to kneel I can
    3. count my breathe cycles like people count sheep to fall asleep

I had some thing that did not agree w/ my body once before class and was feeling REALLY sick. during locust I wanted SO bad to just leave and throw up!! I knew I wasn’t THAT sick however ;-P and just kept counting and doing. It did pass and I felt much better after class. Just thought I’d share my experience and let you know that yes there are times when I’m dying and everyone seems fine and there are times when I’m feeling awesome and others are leaving or kneeling. I just go in and try (not easy) to only think about MY yoga and just go through the process.

I LOVE the doubles! it’s like going into the second set of a pose but your whole class is like that. loose open and in in the yoga connection zone from the get go. I have my most amazing breakthroughs during a double or an early class the day after a double.
when I’m ready (close but not yet) my next yoga challenge for myself is back to back double where you don’t leave the room. you lye in corpse pose for 15-20 min stand up and do it all over again. I’ve recently heard of people doing this but have yet to brave it myself. My practice has taught me so much about myself if you want to hear irony, one-two months ago I would have done it! now I can sit back and from a diff. place check in w/ myself, what I’m ready for, and when.

The best thing I EVER did for my practice was to practice like the heat was NOT there. I breathe easy and light in and out through my nose. if I have to struggle w/ my breathing it’s too far.
I go into the hot room thinking of it as YOGA not a typical “WORKOUT” as the norm would call it. just breathe stretch and connect w/ myself AHHHHHHHHHH the sigh of relief 😆

It is because of the dehydration and your muscles craving the energy to rebuild. When you do intense exercise the glycogen (sugar) in our muscles and bodies gets used so….. it’s your bodies natural way of saying rest and replenish!!!!!!
have an ener c to quench thirst and replenish your sugars,,,,,, don’t have it?…… well a A LOT of water and a couple handfuls of grapes or another fast acting fruit will do the trick as well. and it WILL pass within about 20 min of refueling.
remember all during this phase too that it will take a bit for your body to recognize the fuel so grab a HANDFUL or two and WAIT (about 20 min) other wise not only will you eating more than you need to and endangering the “diet” your sugars will get too high…crash…. and the cycle will start again.
