Hello again

Who would have thought that high heels and yoga would go together?

Well, I invite you to watch this video and find out just how true this is.

Sometimes our feet are overlooked (no pun intended!). And I want to help you awaken some awareness about your feet and the way they can affect your:

  1. Balance
  2. Alignment
  3. Feelings of wellbeing

In this short video you will learn how to maximize support from your feet even if you don’t have some of those common problems like pronation, flat feet, or weak ankles.

And we will look at how, regardless of how well you balance, you can take some valuable insights away which will:

  • Deepen your practice
  • Challenge your body to create better balance
  • Even walk with a better connection to the earth; and
  • Learn to retrain those muscles in your feet which, for most people have become a little lazy and underused.

The techniques are simple and easy to apply (with a bit of practice wink ) and can be used by everyone!

So watch it by clicking play on the video below, or, if you prefer, download it in two different formats:

Thanks Gabrielle,

This was a very helpful video to wake up to this morning. My ankles and feet are both areas that are affecting my practice due to previous injuries and perhaps structural misalignment. I have a shooting pain in my sole (from a running injury) whenever I do a balancing posture, or the 2nd awkward pose.I find that the yoga postures are increasing this pain outside of class, as well. Hopefully, at some point the pain will go away.On top of that, I have weak ankle prone to sprains due to previous ankle injuries. Your advice has given me the impetus to pay more attention to my foot alignment during my balancing poses, to ensure that I am not compromising the foot position in order to be able to balance on one foot. I will also try the walking advice to see if it helps my foot in general. Thanks for taking your time to create these interesting and useful videos. I also enjoyed the “elbows in the pocket” one and have been experimenting with this during my Bikram practice.
PS I envy your 9 months of lovely weather.
All the best, from frosty Massachusetts, USA.

G’Day Gabrielle!

Your videos are helping me know yoga poses in a better way. I agree with Soulstar that now I can pay more attention to my foot alignment. Speaking of weather, our weathers are quite similar we too have somewhat warm and hot weather for 9 months and the winters are rather short but sometimes biting ones smile

Hi Gabrielle

Thanks so much for this video. I have always had problems with my feet and never been told how to correct them.

I notice when I do wear high heels that I concentrate more when I am walking and feel that I use more mucles. I also walk a lot slower and have to concentrate on my balance. Maybe I will start wearing high heels more often!

London is pretty overcast and cold today, so really jealouso of your sunshiney weather.

Thanks for providing such a great resource

For the $20 coupon, I believe you say “eights of an inch” rather than one-eight of an inch.

I’m with “susang” - that was the only correction I found!

I also agree you say eights of an inch, but you also stutter near the end of the video. Now where is my $20.00 coupon?
