Hi Gabrielle! My regular schedule is 5 days a week. I take Tuesday and Friday’s off (I run on those days along with one other, if I can). I will tell you, that it’s difficult to not do hot yoga every day! It’s very addicting!

It’s funny as these two women didn’t have dry skin. I think the rash has been gone over a week now. When it comes back, they plan on applying the shampoo. I thought it was funny but if it happens to me, I’ll try it too!! 😉

I finished my challenge – actually did 31 days and I felt great (not that there weren’t some bad days). Now, the hard part is going back to my regular schedule!!

There are 2 woman in my hot yoga class that have recently come down with a rash. It doesn’t look like a heat rash (like prickly heat) but more like big bug bites but it’s a rash. One of them went to her doctor and whatever he told her to do didn’t work. Someone told her to try selsun blue, yes, really, the dandruff shampoo, and in two days it was gone. She’s had it re-occur once more and applied selsun blue and it was gone. I guess you put in on the rash, leave it for a bit and then shower it off. Weird but true!

I’m on day 27 of a 30 day challenge and the worst I felt was just tired but felt great always after class. I haven’t had any of the experiences you’ve had. Sounds awful. Curious what Gabrielle would say about that as it seems there’s more going on.

I will say that I’ll be glad to take a day off from hot yoga and not have to do a double to make it up when it’s all over :ahhh:

I hope you are OK and that nothing is seriously wrong. Good luck.

For slipping I use yogitoes skidless towels. They are big enough to cover the whole yoga mat and they have little rubber dots on one side and they don’t slip at all. They are really good at absorbing the sweat too. I have two of them now…probably have to get one more!

I’ve been doing hot yoga (bikram and vinyasa) for a little over 10 weeks now. I like the mix of the two as I feel vinyasa really does more for toning and strength but both have that great results. I haven’t lost any weight, but I feel I am leaner. I really love the benefits of my mental well-being that I’m getting. I sleep much better and feel that I can deal with stress more effectively.

I also run, I do 5Ks primarily. I have only been running 2-3 days per week while doing the hot yoga, while before I was running 5-6 days per week. My running has improved tremendously too! My races begin in the spring, so I’ll be interested in seeing how my race times improve. I can see a difference already in being able to run faster and not be out of breath.

Just love hot yoga, benefits all over the place!!

On day 9 now. I feel really good too! I have to do a double tomorrow to make up for a travel day for work on Tuesday, we’ll see how that goes! :-S

In the studio I go to, which is fairly new, has a really neat rubber-like but with drainage functionality flooring. I’ve never seen anything like it before. Looks like it’s made for hot yoga specifically. No smell at all!

I’ve only been doing hot yoga for about 10 weeks now and I swear, I could fill up a glass or two if I wrang out my clothes afterward (not to mention how much drips off of me and into my towel/mat)! I cannot believe how much I do sweat, it’s unbelievable! :red:

I just started a 30-day challenge at the studio I go to. I’m on day 2!! Wish me luck, I’m trying not to think about how many days I have left but only the day I’m on. Will be a challenge (no pun intended) to get the classes in during times offered with work, but I’m trying to be creative.

    Here goes….

Gabrielle, thank you, that’s very good advice. I’ll try that in my next class!! I’d love to get to the point of not dreading that pose 🙂

Oh, just one more note on camel: if you don’t drink water a while before it, it’s a little better!

Ah, camel pose…kills me. I feel like I want to cry and sometimes like I want to throw up. If you do it with your hands on your heels, I sometimes don’t feel all that emotion as I do when they are on my back/hips. I always feel differently, depending on the day.

in reply to: kleenex in Yoga #6076

I just wanted to make a comment that some of us need Kleenex when doing the back series on the floor – the sweat is really the cause but you feel like you need to blow your nose.
