Cool, 26! Do let us know how your challenge is going! I did Day 4 today as well. It was fabulous.

Amy, the temperature at the new studio is perfect.

I’ve also just found out that towels are complimentary there. May sound like a small thing, but not when I’m facing a huge pile of dirty towels at my house! One less thing to have to tote around. Woohoo!

Thanks, Gabrielle. I am trying to post all messages in the public forum as my time will soon be up in the private. I tried to post the first challenge one into the public and the second. I will go try it again. They’ve all ended up in the private.

Ah, I went and it was fabulous. I’m down 5 pounds so far on my cleanse too, so it’s all good!

Wow, Cindy, that sounds fabulous. Looking at your message, that would make your 30th day fall on March 4th?

I really like that idea of a double on the last day, if it works out and the heavens are aligned.

Can’t wait to hear how it goes. Please do let us know.

Hi, Amy. I wanted it to go back on the open forum, but it didn’t. not sure what’s going on there.

I guess it’ll just be you and me! I dunno what will happen either, I’m 4 days into a cleanse, which means I’ve barely eaten any food! I went two nights ago and almost swooned.

I’m missing it though and may try again tonight. I can’t seem to go more than a few days without my hot yoga. 🙂

Wow, Amy, I am SO IMPRESSED with you and your positive attitude. As they say, though, you are “preaching to the choir,” when talking about the positive effects of hot yoga to us folk on this forum.

Earlier today I was trying to convince – well, okay, with just a little begging, a friend who has Fibromyalgia to come to a class with me. Here’s what she said when I referred her to the hot yoga website:

“I went to their website and tried the first 3 poses. 3 seconds of 2nd pose put my back in spasm, and 2 seconds of the 3rd one created spasms in my ribs in front. I may just save my money and try doing some of the stretches in the privacy of my own home for awhile, where my screams go unnoticed…”

I guess she won’t be joining me yet. Darn.

Anyway, Amy, I’m looking forward to our upcoming challenge in March! Keep up the good work!

Wow, what a fascinating conversation! Gabrielle stressing not to push too hard and strongly suggesting to take a day off each week, and then right underneath that someone who has done a year straight! Simply amazing – two sides of the coin, so to speak.

    Definitely food for thought…

I hadn’t had any trouble when I was at Day 25 on my last challenge and would have kept happily going, had my studio not closed and my car not died… and I don’t remember once thinking I needed a day off or my muscles getting tighter and tighter – but, of course, we are all so different, with many outside influences and changes in our lives – who knows what might have happened on Day 30, but I’m eager to try another challenge.

To me it just takes the everyday yoga up a notch, makes it more fun, more exciting – who knows what might happen?

I do appreciate what Gabrielle said from a business perspective, though, about people packing it in after the challenge ends. The same thing happens to some people when they train for our Sun Run in April -we have almost 60,000 people participate and then that’s it for a lot of them. They don’t run again maybe until the next year.

One of the problems with the aerobics is I have a hard time leaving my ego at the door! I’ll try and be smarter and maybe do more low impact. I’m going with my grandaughter tomorrow for a Valentine’s class, 70 minutes…

Well, I’m still continuing with the aerobics, Mon, Wed, and Saturday. Oh my lord, though, it’s making me stiff …

Course, my shoes are ancient. I’m not ready to quit, though, as I want my daughter to keep going. I’ll get some new shoes and give it another few months. At which point it will be the beginning of my golf season and I won’t have time to fit it in.

I have since come across an explanation for the “temporary blindness” that sometimes overtakes me in Camel.

My daughter’s friend says she’s fainted twice in her life and both times just prior to fainting she lost sight, with her eyes open.

So that’s what I attibute it to, a precursor to fainting. It makes sense to me, not enough water, well into the class and bingo …

Way to go! Right, 2 days off and then back at it! I agree with you about NOT DOING IT QUIETLY. I guess I’m a groupie, I enjoy doing things in/with a group. I might even change studios to one where they’re advertising challenges. Only thing wrong with that is then I wouldn’t get to do yoga with my daughter, which is so wonderful. It’s a dilemma.

Sorry, I was trying to post this to another spot. Twice I’ve tried and it’s posting in the wrong spot.

You’ll get a T-shirt? I can’t get my studio to participate in a challenge at all. The owner says she loses too many people after 30 days. Although I’ve been at the same studio for eight years and have never seen any challenges going at any time. Real bummer.

Well, it turns out the aerobics class was easy and fun. Although when I looked over at my daughter she was sweating a lot and I was casting glaring looks at the open windows, finding it kind of chilly.

The aerobics moves haven’t changed much in 20 years, it turns out. The best thing about it was getting to spend time with my daughter.

Hm, well, that’s totally weird that you’d be stiff after 23 days of stretching! I hope Gab has an answer for you.

Guess what I’m doing tonight? I was two days into my 30-day challenge and my non-yoga daughter talked me into going to aerobics with her. We’re starting tonight! I swear I haven’t done aerobics since the ’80s. Should be interesting…

I’ve been “going through” menopause for about four years. The ONLY time I feel relief is whilst doing Bikram Yoga, because it’s so hot I don’t notice any more heat!

The hot flashes are the only symptom I’ve had and they’re no big deal, just an annoyance. I can’t even imagine how it could be a problem to be doing yoga.

For some reason it doesn’t alarm me, it goes away in the savasana right after each Camel. I have a yearly ophthalmalogic appointment and will ask when I see him. It’s only momentary, but I realize going blind in yoga is not recommended!

And here’s another added goodie that I sometimes experience in Camel, I go blind in my right eye!

Now, that’s something to look forward to!

I learned/realized something new today: If I just concentrate on my continuous breath I should be too busy to be getting frustrated or angry. Why is breathing so hard????

Yes, I find really concentrating on breathing changes my practice quite a bit and the time just flies by, and makes the yoga so much easier.

Another thing that has changed my practice is immersing myself in Gabrielle’s fabulous Masterclass book. Thinking so much about the minute details of each pose and I just have a vague memory of wanting to run out of the room for some strange reason in what seems like another life!
